That is more than a $8 billion increase. Ford’s gross profit for 2009 was $17 billion and in 2010 it reached the $24 billion mark. Comparing the two companies Apples gross profit was higher overall. As far as assets and liabilities, Ford has more than twice the assets that Apple has. Ford also has six times Apple’s liabilities, making Ford in the red, unlike Apple. Ford is in debt while Apple has turned a nice profit. Ford’s net income is no where near that of Apple’s. Apple is a company that will always have constant buyers because technology is more popular and also cheaper than buying a vehicle. Based on the Income Statements and Balance Sheets I have reviewed, I would rather invest in Apple than Ford Motor Company. This popular apparel brand has a huge line of clothing and footwear that is suitable for people of all ages around the world. According to financial data I obtained for my portfolio project, the company’s revenues have increased a great deal since the last year of financial reports. An estimated $207 million dollar revenue increase is big news for a company that started selling merchandise only a decade ago. I personally own items made by this brand and the quality surpasses the quality of brands that produce similar apparel. Brands such as Champion and Fruit of the Loom are tough competitors for Under Armour especially in such a competitive market with there being new styles and products introduced each season. I will continue to buy Under Armour for all of my sportswear needs. Strengths the company has is its ability to introduce new clothing and footwear each season and sell its merchandise in department stores as well as sporting goods stores. Weaknesses seen by the company include other brands that produce apparel similar in style or the need to increase prices as production costs rise. Opportunities are available for the company to expand to other countries that it currently does not sell merchandise and also gear products towards a larger target market that includes children’s apparel as this would help the company to reach out to a new customer base. Threats may be that the competition could be selling more merchandise than the company itself and merchandise may be replaced by more advanced products produced by a different company. Nike has been around for years and i believe will continue to prosper in our economy. Usisng business source premier I was able to find the following: Strengths - (1)Robust market position bolstered by strong brand equity; (2)Competent technical innovation in products enhances Nike's competitive advantage and brand equity; (3)Low cost manufacturing base coupled with broad distribution network. Weakness - (1) High pension liabilities Opportunities - (1) Association with NFL would consolidate market leadership in the US; (2) Brand reorganization initiative; (3) Growth in global footwear market. Threats - (1) Intense competition; (2)Limited control over contract maufacturers; (3) Growing counterfeit goods market. I chose to do a SWOT analysis on Nike Inc. Its Sales for 2010 reached an estimated $128 billion and gross profit was at $24 billion. The net income for the year ended 2010 was at $6.5 billion. The company has been in business for much longer than the Apple Corporation and has been through numerous economic situations. Total assets reached $48 billion last year and total liabilities of $60 billion. It is a well seasoned company in that it has been able to pull through even the most toughest economy and sell a product that is known for having good cars. same as Apple is one of the largest company in the world. the sales of $65 billion in 2010 and a gross profit of $25 billion, the company is thriving very well and should have no problems with those figures reaching even higher. With net income at $14 billion last year, it is no surprise that more consumers are scooping up all of the hot selling products that Apple produces. The company is successful in attaining total assets worth $41 billion and total liabilities estimated at $20 billion. The innovation and technology Apple incorporates into its electronics is hard for other companies to compete with. The strengths of the company are its strong brand image, focus on research and development, and its robust balance sheet. Its weaknesses are its low search engine market share and low investors’ confidence. The opportunities are its increasing adoption of cloud computing services and positive outlook for worldwide IT spending. The threats it poses are its intense competition, patent lawsuits and threat of piracy. So of the opportunity Microsoft had done was moved into the Chinese market and sell products and programs based on Chinese language and give the Chinese government to sensor and ease drop on emails, documents, and WebPages. Although, it’s not just for breakfast anymore, McDonalds brews fresh coffee that is available to the consumer any time during the day or night. It also provides food products in which the consumer finds comfort. How many times have you driven by a McDonalds location to find the “drive-thru” backed up with vehicles. I find this establishment to have gained success in every way. The clever advertising campaigns with constant product changeover and improvements pave the way to its success. McDonalds has just celebrated its sixtieth anniversary and in my opinion, will continue to serve up a fresh cup of coffee for another sixty years. An Apple product design will always be in demand no matter what type of economy because it is a product that is easy for a consumer to acquire. The Ford Motor Company has produced a best selling car in the past and present. It will continue to build a car that consumers will aspire to drive. In today's’ competitive markets, the automobile is a tougher product to sell than a consumer electronic. Apple manufactures various electronics that are unique and are not comparable to other electronics on the market. If Ford produced a vehicle that was unique in its own way, it would reap profits of epic proportions. On that note, if the Ford Motor Company would team up with Apple Incorporated to design an automobile that featured quality and innovation combined from both companies, consumers would have the best of both worlds in one product. Starbucks is a well known name and not just for coffee. They also offer breakfast and lunch sandwiches along with a few other baked goods. As we know every company has their weaknesses. Starbucks can get very costly to some customers which is why some people might decide to go to Dunkin Donuts one morning because they want a cheaper coffee and sandwich which in this case is a huge threat to Starbucks Corporation seeing they are one of the key competitors. Starbucks has opened many opportunities for their corporation. For example Starbucks now sells there products in other stores like grocery stores and convenience stores. This was probably one of the best opportunities for the company to expand with their product.
