I just watched the two vidoes. I did not know either of the TV personalities. I thought that Suze was easier to understand versus Jim Cramer. Jim Cramer reminded me of an infomercial. I thought Suze was short and to the point where Jim was rambling about a lot of information. I thought Suze kept it short, but to the point. I thought Jim was all over the place and I found it difficult to pay attention because of all the different noises and horns. I did look into their bio’s and Suze seemed to be a hard worker when she was young going to school while waitressing. Jim attended Harvard College. I think both personalities target the middle-aged and retirement age. I think both are informative and can help people with their finances. I did like the idea that you can write into Suze with your financial questions. I believe they both excel in this economy because they can teach people about their finances and offer helpful advice. Both seem to be go getters. Both are talking about real life and offer free information which I think people really like.

I have never seen neither one of these shows and i am surprised that I’ve never even heard of the hosts either because both are really popular. Suze Orman was 18th on the 2009 Forbes’ list of most influential women in media and Jim Cramer, well, is a crazy but smart individual that’s extremely popular in the business world. Even though they basically provide the same service (some sort of financial advising), they have different intended markets, like Suze provides financial advising to regular people who need help on financial decisions while Cramer spills out a lot of business jargon, not necessarily to help regular people, but to help investors or “business people”. I would say that we don’t NEED their services, but it’s a huge help to a lot of people because many people, especially with the recession, need guidance on how to invest or even save money in order to meet the present-high standard of living. Their service works in every economic environment because at times of needs (like the recession), people are going to need assistance on how to make or manage money in order to keep up with expenses and at times when the economy is in good shape, most people are gonna want to know ways on how to save or invest money so these two shows are a good resource for managing money. Looking into their past, they both looked like they were smart people and had intentions of becoming someone. Suze came from a not so rich family that owned a deli in Chicago and was brought up with education first, and a dream of opening a restaurant, and saw a chance while as a waitress but was turned around as the investment fell but got the money back because of illegal activity that was in place, and went to school for executive accounting. Jim Cramer went through several job titles throughout his career before actually becoming a host in the “Mad Money” show like a journalist, lawyer, investor, and the co-founder of thestreet.com. He was a really smart guy as he went to harvard college to receive a couple of degrees and eventually find himself in the advising profession as he and everyone saw that he had a lot of experience and talent.

After watching both of the videos I came to the conclusion that Jim Cramer is targeting Wall St. and the stock market. At times it was hard to understand what Jim was talking about. But I understood that he is trying to help people become more intelligent when it comes to the stock market and to always be on your guard. We don’t really need Jims services unless, you are new to the stock market or don’t know to much about it and would like to learn more about how to make money through the stock market. Suze Orman, on the other hand, targets more on peoples finaces and give these people advice about what they should do or not do with their money. She does this by looking at what the consumer wants to buy and looks at how much money the person has and makes over a year. Similar to Jim, I don’t think we need Suze’s services but people seem to want her advice maybe so the consumer can reasure themselves about the decision or because the consumer just doesn’t have an idea of what to do. Both Suze and Jim will excel in any economic enviroment because they both have a t.v show, and besides that they both deal with the economy to some extent. They help all kinds of people with what to do with their money and how to be smart while doing it.

I personally have seen “The Suze Orman Show” on NBC or a channel similar, and also that Forbes have ranked her 18 on the list of most influential woman in the world, which is a big achievement. after I saw both videos Jim Cramer and Suze Orman have two totally different views, while Jim is more for the Wall St, and guiding viewers towards playing the stock market wisely, Suze Orman is more of a play it safe and dont use your finances on frivolous stuff, I do not know much on Jim Cramer, I have heard of the show “Mad Money” and a member of my family said that she really thinks he’s a smart person and helps viewers through the economy. Personally I dont watch either show but if its helping our economy i’m all for it.

This is the first time I saw both TV Shows. In the first Video, Mad Money with Jim Cramer, is targeting Stock market, He is trying to help people to understant the stock market, how sells stocks. He is trying to change the negative view of market that some people have. Dont believe everything you hear and stay on our guard. In the Second Video, The Suze Orman Show, she is trying to give people advice about what they should do or shouldnt do with their money. An example is the question that she ask to Christine….Can I afford to buy and install a swimming pool for 55,000? she is a very good financial advisor, she helps people in financial decisions.

Jim Cramer and Suze Orman, both have economics directions, both have tv shows, but in my opinion I prefer to continue watching Suze Orman instead Jim Cramer because Jim talk about a lot of things and make the audience confuse…

  6. 5sentences says:

It was interesting to watch the two videos of two very succesful financial advisors and their apporach to their target market. Both Cramer and Orman are targeting working people with either a need or want.
They differ in that Cramer is targeting people who want to invest their money to become richer and Orman is targeting people looking for advise on how to save money or consolidate their debt.

Both groups feel they need their services. Cramer’s target group are agressive types looking to make a quick “killing” in the stock market to become rich and have the funds to support their wants. While Orman’s target group are in need of advise to help them with money matters, either it be debt consolidation, help in curbing spending or should they make a major purchase. Both groups are either single or do not trust their mates.
Both Cramer and Orman had a diverse carrer ladder to sucess,
Per CNBC profiles” Cramer started as a journalist ,became a lawyer, stock broker at Goldman Sach’s , co founded “The Street” in 1996 , and joined CNBC in 2005 with his “Mad Money” show .
Per Wikipedia Orman ” started as a waitress, then owned a restaurant, a broker at Merrill Lynch, V.P. of investmebts at Prudential Securites, and has been on CNBC for nine years with her show.
They both can make money in any economic enviroment because there will always be people that are insecure and will seek advise as to how to invest or save their money.

  7. RoadRash says:

I just finished watching both videos. Jim Cramer and Suze Orman have very interesting ways to get to their audience. They are very good financial advisors. After doing a little research on them i was amazed at both of their life stories. Jim Cramer is a very wealthy person who is trying to help the viewer get rich and invest in the stock market. He gives great advice if u dont know anything about the stock market. Suze orman on the other hand helps the person on how to spend their money and tells them if they can afford it. I think Suze is more helpful in our time. There are people out there that use the money they dont have and well she shows you how to decide if you can or not. They excel in the economic enviroment because they both have been through it and now are two very succesful people.

  8. K thompso says:

After watching the two videos I see that both Jim Cramer and Suze Orman both have financial consulting shows that are a bit different and that we don’t really need. I have never sat down to watch a full episode of either one of their shows before, although I have previously heard of both of them and its clear from the two short clips I watched that both of their shows deal with the same broad topic, but are reaching out to slightly different target markets. Jim Cramer’s show seems more geared toward educating an investor in the stock market to make wise decisions and also understand the market as a whole. This service will continue to be successful as long as there is a stock market and thankfully for Jim Cramer, whether the market is doing good or bad does not matter, as long as it exists, he will be employed. Suze Orman’s show seemed to advise people more on personal finances, for example whether or not a person can afford a pool as we saw in the clip, or maybe whether or not a person should re-finance their home. Just like Cramer, Orman will continue to have a job as long as the country continues to have a consumer based economy. Although both Cramer and Orman are successful at what they do, we do not “need” their services. Although they are helpful and educational they exist to improve upon the goals and inquiries of a person whose most likely has already experienced some sort of financial success.

  9. REDSOX says:

After watching these Movie Clips I didn’t quite understand what Jim Cramer was saying but I understood what Suze was talking about to the lady. I think it was stupid that the lady who was calling needed Suze’s help. I think it is common sense to find out whether they can afford the pool or no. Do they have enough money to buy it? It was easy to figure out and calculate it and that’s why these shows are successful because these people calling out to do the second grade math. From the Movie Jim Cramer all I understood was that he was talking about the stocks and it is always not right if people say that this stock is good or not good. I think these shows are successful at any time because as the economy is good people are more likely to watch them to get information to know where they should invest their money. There is nothing wrong to take somebody’s advice and she actually helped her. SO on the other hand when economy is bad, people want to know what is going in the market and whether they should save or invest like that lady calling Suze.

I feel from wathching these two videos, that as a lay person without alot if any finace or markerting knowledge that yes,we need these peoples products, their books and their TV programs that have helped countless people .Their target markets differ in that Suzi would appeal to an older more conservative market were as Jim would appeal to a younger more 30 something crowd.Yes ,they excell in any economic environment because it is their job to contort and be informed of all and any economic change.Their backgrounds are impresssive on both sides .Both Suzi and Jim are very well educated people with countless Emmy awards,Gracie awards, best sellers and recognition by Time magazine(Suzi).Harvard credentials, employment at Goldman Sach’s, and among other things a hit show with CBS MadMoney(Jim).Overall I feel that these two personalities are a needed and useful economic service for teaching uninformed, uneducated but, interested people how to manage their finances better in any economic environment.

  11. ehunt02 says:

After watching both Jim Cramer and Suze Orman I’ve noticed that they are both very insperational at what they do. Jim Cramer helps people with there wall street decisions. He tries to help people understand the benefits of Wall street. Suze Orman helps people decide whether they can afford a new thing in there life, for example, swimming pool. She tries to see how much spending money a family has. She takes into account there expenses and revenues. Both their services are relied on by millions of people. In this economy people are scared to make there own financial decisions. They don’t have anybody to blame if something was to go wrong. With Cramer and Orman, they both tell people where there money should go and people are very enthused by that. Both Cramer and Orman worked their way up to get where they are now. They both have enormous experience with public speaking and journalizing. They are successful simply because they worked hard for it.

  12. FLIPME14 says:

After watching both videos you can tell that Jim and Susan are talking about the same thing (money), yet they are targeting very different markets. From the video clip of Mad Money I could tell that that is a show for the economically and financially educated people, People who have a better understanding about Finances, Investments, stocks and so forth. Even though this show is intended to educate and help those who do invest and want to invest, you need some initial knowledge on the subject to be able to understand what is going on on the show. I for example, having very little knowledge about finances, Investment and stock, was a little lost while watching this video clip. Suzan Orman on the other hand is targeting more ordinary people, possibly more family oriented individuals dealing with the normal day-to-day problems with finance. Smart people, yet not educated in Finance. I think Suzan gives pointers on spending wisely and Jim gives tips on Investing wisely.
The reason they both excel in any economic environment is because regardless if you are going through tough financial times or not you still need to spend money. If you’re doing well financially, then you want to do even better. You look for ways to improve and make more money, thus investing and spending wisely. At least that’s my mindset. If you aren’t doing so well financially then you want to do well and this is where they come in to help you by giving you tips on how to improve.
After a little bit of research I found that Suzan came from a working class background and she worked hard to get where she is today. She learned through her mistakes. From some of the things I read online I could tell that a lot of people in the same field don’t respect her as a Financial Advisor, probably because she’s a woman (which even though is ridiculous, reality is that people are still discriminating and discrediting women now-a-days). James Scurlock from The Big Money said “How a bottle-blond former waitress and self-described “55-year-old virgin” with a taste for the good life became the financial messiah for millions of Americans might be a fun Lifetime original movie”. Suzan is being judged on other things and not her knowledge. I think she succeeds because she can relate to these people that are watching her show. I think that in some people’s eyes she doesn’t use fancy terms and speak about the fancy Wall Street and this doesn’t make her a good financial advisor. Jim has a good education and knows what he’s talking about. Like I said, these shows aren’t intended for the same audiences.

  13. P.J. Stock says:

Jim Cramer and Suze Orman are two well known media figures, and rightfully so. In these tough economic times, people want to rely on other’s educated opinions on what to do with their money, especially from well known financial advisors. These television personalities use their financial and stock expertise to gauge the market and give their opinions to their audience. Jim Cramer, according to Wikipedia, had a background first as a journalist, then a lawyer. During his time at law school, he began investing in stocks, where he became recognized for his successful decisions, and eventually made it to T.V., where he could broadcast his knowledge to a larger audience. Suze Orman reached T.V. in a very different way. She first started out as a waitress, and then earned a job at Merril Lynch after suing and proving her stockbroker from the same company committed an illegal act (Wikipedia). After penning several successful books, she also found her way onto T.V. Although these people are knowledgeable about finances, all they can provide are opinions based on their research. Jim Cramer recently came under fire because of putting faith into failing stocks. The stock market is so unpredictable, that even some of the most knowledgeable people cannot be correct all the time. Most of these T.V. shows are flash in the pan, and in some cases, only tell the viewer what they want to hear, and do not provide accurate information. Buyer beware!

  14. rdowning01 says:

After watching these two videos i believe that Suze Orman and Jim Cramer are both just trying to help people with there finances, but in two different ways. Suze Orman takes phone calls from people and helps them decide whether they are in the right financial situation to afford something or not, while Jim Cramer is advising people who are invested in the stock market and telling them how some people manipulate the market to benefit themselves. I would say in Orman’s case we do need her service, with her being a successful financial advisor. She can help people with her great knowledge on finances, from her jobs of being stock brockers and advisors. I also believe that although Cramer isn’t specifically speaking to one person, he does help people by informing them about what’s going on in wall street and what to do with their investments. They are successful in any type of market because they offer one service that is always needed, and that is financial advising and people are always going to need that help. Cramer use to be a stock broker and owned his own hedge fund so he knows what goes on from that perspective which helps him help people with investing.

  15. bonez14 says:

I just finished watching both videos and to tell you the truth I have never heard of either of them before this is my first time watching them. But what I found interesting is that they both work in different wasys and views but both at the same time are explaining their points of view to different targets. Both individuals are doing one thing though that is very helpful to the viewers and that is explaining to them what and what not to do when investing their money…Out of both videos I liked Jim Cramer more because he is actually explaining or telling the viewers that if you have investments dont be afraid dont sell out just because people are telling you many of those people are actually trying to make you sell so they can go and buy the stocks for them selves and sell at a higher price in the future. Suze Orman is targeting more the people and explaining to them basically if you dont have enough money to buy something dont do it because you are going to end up being in a whole lot of financial mess.

Base on this two video, video 1, it tells me that I have to be out there understanding and experiencing the market or stock. Needed their product is matter how I think and strategy to buy and sell when I know it the right time to do so. But I do need service from other, mainly not advice or opinion, but from their understanding stand point and experience. Debating the market and compare as well as play right at the first time.

I have to believe and trust myself with what I’m doing. Don’t listen to other people opinion. Finish with what I have, and ask myself ” Am I ready?” and “Am I willing to lost? ” And that could get me through the market and stand longer in the market.

They excel in any economic environment because they have learn, study, research and lots more experience. To believe and know about everything of what they are doing. They have the strategy and to fight through market to get excel in any economic environment. Invest themselves and have a good standing financially to help them grow.

In video 2, don’t really need products or services, because we have to see our self, if we ready for it and ask ourselves can we afford it. Ask ourselves if we financially wealthy. Then, we decide weather we need it or not.

Target of this market is to see if I can afford anything around me. First I look at my finance see is there any gab or something to hold me from being broke. Look at my financial status to see after I build something do still have any money left to invest or do other thing. Having is better than spending on stuff I don’t need. By doing, all of these it can help me stay strong in the world financial target of the market.

With all the steps they have to make them a better person in any economic environment. Wealthy life and excel in life as well. Financially they are very aware of anything that makes them loose money and others. So more importantly is the question that we all have to ask ourselves. “Do we need it” or “Do we want it?”

I am unfamiliarized with this type of videos. However, Cramer and Orman are both marketing geniuses. They both portrait different ideas and target different markets. Orman, aggressive promoter of financial advice, aims toward regular people that need financial advice of personal usage. Cramer, family guy, targets investor and people that are determined to find profitable markets(the bull market), according to Cramer there is always a bull market but it has to be found. These marketers have common grounds. Since both came from the working class. They both struggled through school. They assumed some risks that where not easy to overcome after failing. Their striving hunger for success made the difference.

After watching these two videos I came to the conclusion that Jim Cramer and Suze Orman apply to two different target markets. Jim Cramers advice applies to people interested in stocks. His advice is a lot more hands-off people who know what their doing in the market and are just looking for some ideas. Suze Orman on the other hand is much more use full to the common person. When she takes calls she really takes charge. With enough research of the market neither are really needed but the extent of their expertise makes them so successful. The expertise they both have give them market savvy skills. Suze was once given bad advice by a stockbroker that led to bad investments. Which eventually turned her to become a financial advisor.

  20. JBlog says:

After watching the two videos I realized that Jim Cramer’s target market is those interested in stocks. Suzie’s target market is those trying to manage their money and she also deals with people trying to make big purchases. I do believe that we could use their produts/services because the two TV personalities could really help out certain people financially by helping make big decisions. Both Jim and Suzie can survive in any economic environment because they have a TV show that talks to people about money and what to do with money. Jim Cramer used to be a stock broker and Suzie was once a broker herself so both Suzie and Jim have experience in the field they are talking about.

  21. pj2daej2 says:

After finishing watching both the videos my thoughts are understanding why these t.v. personalities make it so big. Jim Cramer is a type A personality with all kinds of tools and knowledge of how people who are driven enough to make money on Wall Street can not be fooled by everything you hear. If you do the research as himself you can make a lot of money. This guy started to make money even before graduating from Harvard. His suggestions and knowledge are priceless which makes his business thrive in any economy. Suze Orman is a little different. She targets the everyday person who are not so independent or knowledegable about making the right financial decisions. She was a waitress while in college and made it the hard way through hard work and some luck. Her knowledge is also priceless in any economy which also makes her show thrive. Both having careers as stock brokers they have the same useful information but different market targets due to their backgrounds and experience.

  22. shoerman01 says:

Both Suze Orman and Jim Cramer are television personalities who host their own shows and give financial advice to their viewers. They target different markets and Cramer’s show is meant to teach viewers how to think about the market in a professional way. Suze Orman’s show is meant to give viewers personal financial advice. Jim Cramer’s history of investing in the stockmarket and being the co-founder of TheStreet, a website for financial services and news, led him to become the host of his show Mad Money. Suze Orman was in training to become an account executive after a fall-out with her stockbroker who was helping her open up her own restaurant. She lost $50,000 but her training led her to find out that the bad investing of her stockbroker was illegal and she sued them and got all her money back. Viewers benefit from these shows, by getting financial/investing advice for free. These shows definitely excel in this economic environment because of how much people need these types of financial advice in the economy we live in today. Some people might need this type of advice more than others especially because of the how expensive most lifestyles have become.

  23. crl1228 says:

After watching these two videos, you can clearly tell that there are major differences between Jim Cramer and Suze Orman. Jim Cramer show Mad Money is more geared towards people of higher income, trying to teach them how to use and succeed in the stock market. Suze Orman on the other hand hosts her own showed called The Suze Orman Show. This show is geared towards people who do not have as much money, and who need personal financial advise on the ways they should spend and save their money. The good things about Suze and Jim professions is that no matter how well or bad the economy is doing, they will always have clients because people will always need financial advice.

  24. kgogolos says:

After viewing these two videos it is clear that Jim Cramer and Suze Orman appeal to different target markets. Jim Cramer talked more about the stock market and Wall Street. I would guess that his target market is business people who need advice in the stock market and investments. It was a little difficult to understand and pay attention to Jim Cramer. Suze Orman appeals more to of the common person looking for personal financial advice, people who are unsure on how to spend and save their money. Suze is more conservative than Jim Cramer and it is easier to understand and relate to what she is talking about. Both Jim Cramer and Suze Orman are successful in any type of market because they offer services that will always be needed. In a bad economy people want advice on how to spend their money wisely and save their money. In a good economy people want to advice on where they should spend and invest their money. People are always going to need financial advice. Both Jim Cramer and Suze Orman worked hard to get where they are today and that is why they are still successful today.

  25. avargas07 says:

The two videos had some of the same intentions, but different in separate ways. Jim Cramer from video one is telling his viewers hey watch out these marketing professionals don’t always have your best interest. He is totally against wall St. he warns the people watching hey you better open your eyes and do your own research and not always believe what people say. He targets mainly investors especially dot he ones who maybe are first time investors would want to hear what he got to say. Video two in the other hand Suze Orman and her show targets individuals making fairly large purchases in this case a 55,000 in ground pool. Can you afford it, and this case it Was obvious the person had the wealth to afford the pool, the next questions is how bad the need is, if you have kids you will lean more into buying the pool. Both Jim and Suze can attract some of the same people, because they both target people making investments.

  26. joseph says:

i believe that Cramer knows what he talking about when he says that the market is being made to look like it is down and not to buy. he tells you that he was actually shorting stocks at his old job. by this he means that he would tell the public that the company is doing bad so they would sell and he could buy more at a lower price even tho the stock is worth more than appeared. Suzes target market seems to be in a field of financial advise. if you were looking for someone to help you with a retirement plan or want to see if you can afford something she is the lady to go to. she has books and computer programs for everything from identity theft to managing your credit.they are both successful in their fields because they have experience in what they are talking about they both have had jobs that let them know what they are telling you is the truth.

  27. Fitzy1 says:

After watching the two videos it is easly seen how the two hosts differ in marketing stratageys. Suze Orman is “advising” people on how to spend their money based on their income. Suze dosnt really have a product because she is stating common sense, you dont buy a 55,000 dollar pool if you make 25,000 grand a year. As for Jim Cramer he is very distracting with the use of the toys and array of noises. He gives begginer stock market investors knowledge of the market. The difference between the two hosts is Suze Orman advises you on how to spend your money and Jim Cramer advises you on how to invest your money.

  28. Matt says:

After watching Jim Cramer and Suze Orman give financial advice I do not believe that “we” need their services. I don’t believe anyone should be trusting of a television personality with their life savings. In fact, according to the CXO Advisory Group, Cramer’s stock picks on his show had done slightly worse than the market average. Orman also seems to be very criticized as well. Cramer’s shows seems more geared towards younger to middle-aged men with his constantly moving camera, sound effects, and cartoon graphics. Suze Orman seems to have more of a female demographic judging by the name of her books and her guest starring on Oprah. I can’t say whether or not they excel in an economic environment, although I am sure both are rich I can’t tell if it is because of their sound financial decisions or their high paying television careers.

  29. jah728 says:

As well as a lot of other people this is my first time seeing either of these shows. I don’t think that everyone needs Suze and Jim’s services, however if there is someone who is interested in the market and wants financial advice then I think that the information that each can provide is useful. It seems that Jim’s target market is investors. His show is for people that already know what they are doing and is giving them tips and opinions to help them out. Jim has a lot of knowledge and experience in the market, he managed hedge funds for a long time and made a lot of money doing it. Suze on the other hand is more for the everyday consumer but probably more of an upper-middle class consumer than anything. I enjoyed her segment a little bit better but she isn’t nearly as knowledgeable as Jim is. Both worked very hard to get where they are today and that is probably most of the reason that they are so so successful in the economic market. People listen to what they have to say.

  30. AH71988 says:

I had never heard of either of these tv personalities until seeing their videos. I don’t think that we need their services and wouldn’t trust their advice. Jim Cramer’s target audience seemed to be people who don’t know much about the stock market. It seems like he excells because he has an entertaining way of discussing the stock market. He uses humor to grab your attention and talks in a way that anyone can understand. However, his speech was all over the place and he was sometimes difficult to follow. Suze’s target audience was people seeking specific financial advice. She was much easier to understand compared to Jim and was equally entertaining. I think she excelles because she seems intellegent yet easy to understand and trustworthy. However, neither Jim or Suze’s shows seem necessary at this time.

  31. Gear Head says:

Both Jim Cramer and Zuze Orman are very sucessful smart investors. Jim was a journalist in collage and started investing in the stock market when he attended law school. Later in life he became a market commentator. Jim is highly informative toward the stock market. He tells his veiwers stock markets stratiegies and hints, and explains how the stock market works. Jim targets pepole who are looking for advice on how to invest there money. I think Jim is sucessful because so many pepole dont have a clue how the stock market works and he breaks it down into steps. Zuze Orman began her career as a waitress. But soon relized that there was money in finances and investments. She gears her market toward the every day public. She helps pepole make decisions whether or not they can afford the product they want to buy. Both Jim and Zuze are clearly needed. They are famouse because of there skills to help and guide pepole through purchseing products and investing there money.

I have personally never heard of these two TV personalities. According to CNBC profiles, Jim Cramer attending Harvard graduating magna cum laude with a B.A in government. Cramer, a former hedge fund manager, is the host of CNBC’s Mad Money and a co-founder and Chairman of TheStreet.com. Suze Orman, a financial advisor, author, motivational speaker, and TV Host has written six consecutive New York Times best sellers. She has also won two Daytime Emmy awards, and hosted six PBS specials about her books.
Jim Cramer’s show Mad Money is targeting an audience who has knowledge of financial matters, and thus seeking further advice on how to invest their money. Suze Orman’s show seems to target the average American who has basic questions on how to invest and spend properly. Suze is a lot easier to understand, where Cramer goes into a good amount of financial detail. Both have become famous because of their vast knowledge of financial subjects, and both seem to offer good financial advice.

I don’t think the service either one of these personalities provide is absolutely needed. However, they target specific groups of individuals that exist in any type of economic environment. Jim Cramer is host of CNBC’s “Mad Money” after spending time as a journalist and a very successful hedge fund manager, according to his bio on CNBC.com. His show focuses on the stock market and targets investors. Suze Orman is host of “The Suze Orman Show” on CNBC. This show tends to target middle class families who need advise on how to handle their finances. Suze began her work as a very sucessful motivational speaker, editor, and television host after getting a bachelor’s degree in social work at the age of 30. Both of these hosts are extremely well qualified and skilled at providing advise to their respectful target groups, and as such are very sucessful in their roles.

I have never heard of there to people before. Cramer like most ever one is saying is there for the large and smart investors to begin. He also seems to target the every investors. Suze seem to be the one to go for a quick and easy answer opposed to Cramers explainations why there good or bad.

I have never heard of there to people before. Cramer like most ever one is saying is there for the large and smart investors or ones that think they know what their doing. He also explains it well and possibly teach new investors how to think. He also seems to target the every investors. Suze seem to be the one to go for a quick and easy answer opposed to Cramers explainations why there good or bad.

CNBC, though I opine that “C” may or may not stand for “carnival” it is certainly a minstrel show of flashing lights and easily digested cotton candy soundbites.
Jim Cramer, half barker half clown, yelling for investors to step right up with a free balloon in one hand a joy buzzer in the other, his show which seeks trespass from financial sector to wacky morning zoo radio full of bells and whistles and other proverbial shiny bits of distracting tinsel is the amateur investor’s version of having a frat brother with a hot stock tip just for you. Though some have said he was a harbinger of the derivative push which led to the bust (huffpost, daily show, slate) his culpability is only of negligence. In this particular video he is correct about doing the investigating yourself, even though it’s much like an oil salesman saying “don’t blame me you should’ve dug for the oil yourself”, a classic PR strategy, admission of guilt followed by blaming the victim, and insulting your critics, the republican party has been doing for decades ( in fact in most society’s where there is an egalitarian set separated by a large financial gap this method is used in an attempt to make the poor seem stupid to the middle class or in absence of any dissenters and justify taking advantage of them) His “sentimental moment of solemn repose” suggests to the viewer that he’s “here for you buddy” like two young entourage fans after a couple too many red bull and vodkas at the “club”.

Suze Orman, while her goals are the same her act is not performed in the big main ring of the CNBC circus, but in an intimate little tent away from the noise of jostling rides and rigged games, she’s your own personal fortune teller, warm in nature like a friend who comes over for martinis once a week, her call screeners in her ear piece helping her with cold readings, using her clairvoyance to help advise her friends. She is not without agenda, knowing full well that women are actually the ones who make the majority of the financial decisions and purchase decisions concerning American households whether it be what detergent the family buys or what kind of car the family needs (in fact in general it’s women who handle the chore of paying household bills and hold the family checkbooks) understanding the great financial power wielded by the Oprah set (and also the great and indiscriminant loyalty of the Oprah set) Orman takes her “friendships” straight to the bank (Orman has what could be considered massive word of mouth marketing power as people come to her for 3 of the main reasons for word of mouth, reassurance, validating opinion, and consumer pride). Though Orman plays up her middle class average American family back story like harpsichord song swaying the heart strings of those in the sticks her advice tows a distinctly banking industry message “pay the your debts no matter what” (in fact she has even urged people to pay debts they can’t be held liable for) preaching the word “responsibility” like a meaningless whorish platitude while encouraging people to use credit cards and “treat themselves” to luxuries they can’t immediately afford (which racks up interest and brings them to into the debt cycle) (frontline).

Whether your preference is a Cramer or an Orman it’s important to realize that these are not your friends, they are franchise players here generate ratings, book sales, buzz, and revenue while towing their sponsor’s and their network’s and even their industry’s interests worthy of the stage the great marketer/businessman/huckster P.T. Barnum erected over a century ago.

In my opinion we really don’t need their product or service to understand how the market works but yet we can use some of their knowledge to form our own ideas. I watched video 1 several times and wrote down every phrase that came up on the bottom of the screen highlighted in yellow and the first phrase that I saw read, “One of the biggest mistakes you can make is believing in everything that you hear”, many people do this and they wonder why their house is being taken away or their car is up for repossession and the answer that I have come up with was that they have believed everything that they have heard (Jim Cramer: Mad Money: CNBC). Jim Cramer excels because he talks like he is at a sports game and gets people interested in learning about the stock market at a fast pace which tunes viewers into what he is talking about and Suze Orman speaks more clearly and a lot slower and she is interested in what you want, which has proven to be the most valuable information and at the end of the day everyone wants to make a quick buck. In video 1, Jim Cramer is targeting the people who invest in and around the stock market, in video 2 Suze Orman doesn’t really target her people, they actually target her with their issues and she gives them a plan on whether or not they are approved or denied. Suze Orman started out as a waitress and knew she could not make enough money back so she started learning more about finances and investing which led her to be where she is today, and Jim Cramer started out as a journalist working for the Crimson eventually working his way up to the president, he moved on and worked for the Tallahassee Democrat where he covered the Ted Bundy murders, he had then switched to a lawyer and then became an investor which all led him to be where he is today broadcasting his own show Mad Money which provides viewers with the knowledge and tools to become a better investors (CNBC TV Profiles Suze Orman/Jim Cramer). Jim Cramer is more of an information and sound effect person whereas Suze Orman has your documentation and economic numbers to approve or deny what you can and cannot afford.

After analyzing both subject matters with a keen ear to what both were ranting about, i noticed Jim Crammer( a successful American television personality and former hedge fund manager), speak about the investment market where equity markets offer financial investors the ability to participate in the companies profit shares through generated increases in there stock prices. Mr. Crammer mentions the “bull market”" A prolonged period in which investment prices rise faster than their historical average” This supposed” bull market” trends through economic booms or recovery which in our econmoy can be vital to such investors in these stock markets they set out to increase profits shared. Jim Crammer excels in any economic environment from understanding of world financials and being that he once was a aggresive investor for the hedge fund he has a background in strategic investment plans which are not available to mutual funds. Suze Orman is an incrediable financial advisor who targets the older generation with there retirement plannings for financial stability. In her speedy performance advising a 42 year old questioner she determines whether the caller can afford a 55k inground pool with the womans fixed mortgage, retirement funds and all other banking liquidity she has broight upon her finances. I believe Suze Orman is a necessity to the business world do to her great mathematical thought process of money managing.

  39. mburke17 says:

Although i have heard the names Jim Cramer and Suze Orman before i have never watched either of their shows. Looking up their backgrounds, i realized why they both taget certain markets. Orman grew up with a working class background and has said that she did not “grow up with money” (wikipedia), which is why her show seems to be helping everyday people solve financial problems they might not have the knowledge to solve on their own. Cramer has been a lawyer and investor, and cofounded thestreet.com, an American financial news and services website. His target market seems to be towards people interested in stocks and people that understand how the basics of financing and investing works. I think that they have survived in any economy because, whether good or bad, they know what their talking about, how to reach their target markets and give honest advice. I think all Americans need true and entertaining financial advice to survive any economy.

Both Suze Orman and Jim Cramer are successful TV personalities that cater to different kinds of people. Jim Cramer seems to be targeting people who have a basic grasp of short term investing and the stock market. His image is the laid back family guy (no jacket, rolled up sleeves, walking around, etc), which lets the average guy feel like he’s one of their buddies or something. The way his show is is actually quite annoying to me with all the cliche sound effects blaring every 5 seconds and his over the top speech, but I guess it works for him and his audience since he has a TV show that is quite popular to the average stock market player. Suze Orman, on the other hand, seems more formal and simply explains her financial advice in a calm way. She targets people who are looking to spend thier money wisely or save their money, rather than spending their money on risky investments. She targets more people who are upper-middle class who have some extra money and want to know if their ideas are worth spending money on. Orman acts as a reinforcer for people to use their money. It’s more personal because Orman knows all the financial data of everyone who is featured on the show. Both Cramer and Orman have a needed service for most of America, so I feel they’ll be able to be successful in any economical situation.

After watching those two videos and doing some research online, i found out that Cramer and Orman are both billionare who have written books, lectured, and television. the difference between them is Suez Orman is interested in fund, and Jim Cramer is interested in stock market. Jim wants you to have fun with mad money which the amount you can afford to use palying the the stock market. he tells you what stocks are hot and what are not.also he wants you do the work yourself. Suez always gives comom sense advice that everybody should know. she helps you understand the things like reducing credit card debt, having a saving plan, indes investing, etc.so, if you are a beginner, i think Suze Orman would be a good one to wach

These two tv personalities both offer valuable and useful financial advice. Though there services can also be a form of tv entertainment for some while also learning about financial planning and should not take the place of hiring a professional though they are both highly qualified in what they do. They do differ from each other as Jim Cramer is a Harvard graduate who is very fast and uses more a textbook definition approach to his audience , his target market in my opinion seems to be a old professional male. Suze Orman’s show helps people with basic financial issues her approach is very simple yet firm . She made many many good and bad decisions with her money which helps relate with the common person. I feel that both of these financial help personalizes will continue to be successful in what they are doing because people will also need help with there money and what to do with it and they have built a brand for themselves and have loyal following i personally have watch both of these shows .

After watching both Suze Orman and Jim Cramer it is apppernt that they are targetting different marktes. Accordinng to USA Today Suze Orman was called a ” “one-woman financial advice powerhouse”.Suze is targeting people who need financial help, while Jim is targeting people who need help with stocks. It is apparent that they are succesful, after their shows and the number of books they have published.

  44. Suzie says:

Both Suze Orman and Jim Cramer really seem to know what they are talking about. Financial advice is so important to society to help others understand how the economy works and where to invest their money. No matter what kind of economic times we are in, people always need advice. Suze Orman is good at what she does and is extremely influential. I found out that she started out as a waitress and worked her way through college, then she realized the opportunities in investing and financing. Her strong personality and straight-to-the-point attitude is appealing to veiwers who just want straight information. Jim Cramer is also confident and has a like-ability to him. These two advisers are very popular and I feel like they were very smart in chosing their career paths.

Both Jim Cramer and Suze Orman give business related advice via their television shows but take very different approaches as well as speak on different topics. I have not watched much of either other than these videos but based on them it seems as though Cramer speaks more to stocks and investment advice while Suze Orman is speaking on the topic of finance in general. That being said , I also don’t think either are necessary to successfully make money in the market. Both Cramer and Orman said nothing that the viewers couldn’t figure out on their own.

  46. numero6 says:

Jim Cramer’s target market is non-professional investors trying to get some insight and Suze Orman’s target market is people who are a little uncertain about their financial situations; their services are similar but we do not absolutely need them. They excel in any economic environment because people are always going to be uncertain about their finances and people are always going to want some help when investing in the stock market. Before her show, Orman studied finance at Merrill Lynch, became an account executive and then wrote 7 books and hosted 6 PBS specials about her books. Cramer started off as a journalist at Harvard and while in law school began successfully investing in the stock market, he made a good name for himself and he started TheStreet.com which led him to his current position on Mad Money.

Cramer spoke to a more intelligent audience with knowledge in stocks and in other videos his information may be useful but he only reiterated what many people forget. People look to both of them because of their continued success and as long as investors have confidence in them even through bare economic times they will stay successful.

After watching these two videos I still don’t recognize the TV personalities. I noticed that they focused on different markets. Jim Cramer mainly focused on the stocks and investing, his video seemed to be directed towards Wall Street. On the other hand Suze was focused on the people and helping them finacially in the economy. Both videos showed me that they were very knowledgeable in what they were talking about and I got alot of good information from both.

After watching the two posted videos and analyzing them in terms of marketing, I have realized that Jim Cramer and Suze Orman are economically stable in any situation. I have seen Cramer’s show before, however I have not seen Orman’s. Their services are truly needed because they provide input on investing and spending, which reaches to the wealthy, middle class, and poor. They target businessmen and women who have the money to invest and spend as well as those trying to get into the market. Suze Orman graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in social work and Jim Cramer graduated from Harvard College with a degree in government. No matter what the economic time people want to make money and both Orman and Cramer provide helpful input on that subject.
